Who’da thought living near Detroit has its downside. Apparently they snuck in the back sliding door, grabbed his keys off the table, and took it right from the driveway. People suck.

Don’t blame that on Detroit. Sounds like an opportunistic crime, probably someone you know.

So they broke into your house and stole a Mustang? I’m pretty sure I know how this will go.

It might not’ve been a very high quality lock. I was renting a house in flint and I changed the locks because the rear door would unlock itself if you jiggled it for a while. Took a few minutes but give it enough massaging and the handle lock would undo itself. No deadbolt either. Probably why they did the sliding door - no deadbolt to worry about. A cheap lockpick set and a few minutes will undo most sliding doors.

chances are the thief would still be in the car trying to figure out what to do with 3 pedals

Oh ok. I also lived in Flint for a few years. Have to stay safe.

And people make fun of me for keeping all the exterior doors locked all the time. I learned the hard way. Someone walked into my dorm room while I was down the hall and stole my wallet and checkbook. I wasn’t the only unlucky one. The thief successfully hit every floor of a 14-story dormitory.

You should lock your door. Also wouldn’t hurt to find a place with a garage/secured parking.
Knock on wood, but no one I know in Detroit has had their car stolen.

We’re normally real good about it, he just installed the rear sliding door about a month ago though so I think he forgot it wasn’t locked. We have a garage though he just didn’t pull it in last night. Boneheaded move for sure.

He just installed a glass sliding door about a month ago where he had a pair of windows, slipped his mind.

You didn’t meet my dad when you picked up the bike did you? He had his Chevy Celebrity stolen when he lived in Detroit decades ago. :p
